Scholarships and Community Grants

Proceeds from the St. Louis American’s four Salute to Excellence events are used for community grants as well as scholarships for local minority students.

In
2022 alone, the St. Louis American Foundation distributed more than $2.8 million in minority scholarships and community grants, and since its inception the 501c3 foundation, along with its higher education partners and individual giving, has distributed more than $14 million locally.

Donald M. Suggs Scholarships

There are now more than a dozen annual scholarships named after St. Louis American publisher Donald M. Suggs at Missouri universities, and in 2022, more than 2.8 million in scholarships and grants were pledged toward Donald M. Suggs Scholarships during the 35th Salute to Excellence in Education Scholarship & Awards Gala.
